THE SOUTHERN DIAMOND SAFARI TRAIL (11 days)
The Southern Diamond Safari Trail is a tailor-made, exclusive experience for visitors that will be introduced to the vast and open landscapes in the southern region of Namibia with its beautiful scenery and interesting history. You will experience the desert side of Namibia, visit historical towns, travel through National Parks, visit the second largest canyon in the world, the Fish River Canyon, as well as the second most visited attraction/location in Namibia, Sossuvlei. You will travel in comfortable 4×4 vehicles in true African fashion.
Day 1: Arrival Windhoek
Arrival in Windhoek, Namibia. Transfer from Windhoek International Airport to accommodation establishment in Windhoek for 1st night. Evening at your own leisure (Lodging).
Day 2: Windhoek en route Fish River Canyon
We depart from Windhoek and travel approximately halfway to Fish River Canyon. Overnight lodging. Evening at your own leisure.
Day 3: Fish River Canyon
After breakfast we head to the southern point of the Fish River Canyon where we will arrive in the afternoon. We explore this unique setting in the mountains that stretch as far as the eye can see. Swimming in a pool that is filled with water from a natural hot water spring. Dinner . Lodging for the night.
Day 4: Fish River Canyon – Aus – Luderitz
Early start today as the day is packed with interesting places we will be visiting on our way to Luderitz. We travel alongside the canyon to the most northern lookout point of the canyon with a spectacular view and breathtaking nature surroundings.
We proceed through the southern part of the Namib Naukluft Park where we may encounter wildlife, e.g. oryx, springbuck, ostrich, until we reach the Naute dam.
Our next leg of travel guides us to the extinct wild desert dwelling horses at Garub near Aus.
We will arrive in Luderitz, the coastal harbour town, known for its German colonial buildings, in the afternoon. Leisure time for you to explore this charming coastal town. Dinner at a restaurant. Lodging.
Day 5: Luderitz – Kolmanskop – Duwisib castle.
Start the day early to depart on route Sossusvlei. After leaving Luderitz we will visit the historical Kolmanskop, ghost diamond village.
Our overnight destination is near Duwisib castle. Dinner. Lodging.
Day 6: Duwisib castle – Sesriem
After a good breakfast we continue to Sesriem gorge. Overnight at a lodge. Dinner.
Day 7: Sesriem – Sossusvlei
After a good nights rest, we visit Sossusvlei. You will be astound of the massive dunes.
Exciting 4×4 drive in the dry riverbed is part of todays expedition. We will return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax, enjoy the sunset and dinner in the evening.
Day 8: Sossusvlei – Swakopmund
We continue our safari past Solitaire to Swakopmund, passing through mountain ranges and the desert landscape. Arriving in the afternoon where you will have some leisure time to explore this historical coastal town. Lodging.
We will enjoy dinner in the evening at a local German restaurant.
Day 9: Swakopmund / Catamaran Cruise
Today we will travel to Walvis Bay to undertake an unforgettable catamaran cruise.
Pelicans, cape fur seals & dolphins will accompany us on this cruise. We will also pass the oyster farm. Return to Swakopmund in the afternoon. Dinner in the evening at a local restaurant.
Day 10: Swakopmund / Day tour Sandwich Harbour
A day excursion to Sandwich Harbour. A scenic coastal drive until we reach the majestic sand dunes in the Namib Desert / Namib Naukluft Park. The desert offers spectacular views.
Return to Swakopmund in the afternoon for time at your own leisure to continue exploring the town and surroundings. Lodging. Dinner in the evening at a local restaurant.
Day 11: Swakopmund / Windhoek
Transfer from Swakopmund to Windhoek International Airport and sadly say ‘Goodbye’.
